Imperial Skills Academy was founded by a group of industry veterans who noticed a troubling trend: entry-level tradespeople often arrived at job sites with high grades but a fundamental inability to work with the tools of the trade.
The gap between theory and real-world job readiness was wide. Graduates knew the physics of electricity or the mechanics of plumbing in a textbook, but they lacked the tactile experience and situational awareness that only comes from hands-on practice.
In 2018, we set out to build a different kind of academy. We moved away from the lecture-heavy model and invested in industrial-grade shop environments right here in Burnaby.
